Working with me

When working with a client, my goal is to create a safe, authentic, non-judgemental space where a client feels accepted and safe enough to build a connection and explore their vulnerabilities and difficult emotions. I work using a collaborative approach, setting goals with my clients and working together throughout the entire process!

Worth mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!

Life experiences and work in this field has taught me that keeping an open mind can create a safe space for exploration and collaborative problem solving and discovery. I approach my clients with neutrality and an open-minded objectivity waiting to hear their stories.

I have been told that I have an easy-going approach which makes it easy for the clients to feel safe enough to form a connection and find support in their struggles.

I am flexible when it comes to bookings, session formats and therapeutic approaches so we can find what works best for you!

What does a session with me look like?

I believe each client is unique and that the client is an expert on their life. My session energy matches the client’s energy. If you laugh, I will laugh with you. If you cry, I will support you through your vulnerability. My sessions provide a client centered environment where a client can sit in ease and talk about anything they wish to talk about. I start out sessions by checking in with how they are doing and how their week has been going so far before reviewing the progress made so far. I invest time into meeting the client where they are at and building a strong therapeutic relationship in which the client feels safe and supported enough to discuss the vulnerabilities. Everything from the pace of a session to the treatment plan and goals are collaboratively planned together with me.

My approach

My role is to provide clients with the support they need and draw from different therapeutic approaches to tailor and collaborate on a unique treatment strategy and plan that suits the client best.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Increases your understanding of the connection between our thoughts, behaviors and emotions and the influence they have on each other. Helps you identify the core beliefs that lead to negative thought patterns.

EMDR

A trauma-focused approach in which the client focuses on a trauma memory, while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (eye movements). This allows for reduction in the emotion and distress associated with the trauma memories.

Client Centered

Take an active role in your growth and progress as you are the expert on your experiences while I support you through your journey to change and grow.

Integrative Approach

One size does not fit all because each individual in unique! I use an integrative approach utilizing knowledge and skills from various therapy models to create an individualized treatment strategy or plan, based on your unique needs.
