Nikka Collison

Student Therapist - MACP (IN PROGRESS) Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Welcome to my page!
My name is Nikka (she/her). I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at Rebound Total Health. Having worked in various fields, I grew to discover my passion for supporting people’s wellness journeys. Since 2020, I’ve been helping couples, parents, and individuals aged 6+ manage different challenges. I support parents in refining their parenting style, help couples navigate conflict and facilitate long-term change for folks wanting to work on their purpose. I work with folks of all ages experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma. My goal is to empower people to live lives and promote ongoing wellness.

It’s important to remember that your journey through life is your own, and no one else’s. Only you have the power to write your story.

Working with me

Are you seeking an authentic, honest, compassionate, and dedicated therapist? Look no further! My approach is to empower clients to achieve their desired changes and make progress towards a more fulfilling life. I strive to create a supportive environment, helping clients leave sessions with a sense of excitement and readiness to reach their personal goals and improve their overall wellbeing.

Worth mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!

I believe in establishing a genuine, honest therapeutic relationship with my clients. I prioritize open communication and self-expression, creating a safe space for vulnerability. In our interactions, I share my genuine self, modeling authenticity and fostering trust. By encouraging clients to embrace their true selves, I aim to promote personal growth, self-acceptance, and overall well-being, helping them navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.

Therapy is all about YOU, not the therapist. I will put you first and will work with you to achieve your goals.

I recognize the need to services to be adaptable, and can work with you to maintain sessions virtually, or in-person to best accommodate your needs. I aim to remove the hurdle to receiving quality services.

What does a session with me look like?

If you appreciate humor and a dynamic approach to counselling, we might be a great match! I prioritize checking in with my clients to address any important updates before delving into our work together. Life can be unpredictable, and I’m here to support you every step of the way. Together, we’ll focus on your unique goals and create a safe environment for self-discovery and growth. My aim is to equip you with strategies that lead to long-lasting success.

Q&A just for fun

Q: Dogs or Cats?
A: I love them all! I used to work at an animal clinic (mainly to give all the pets some additional love)!

Q: Guilty Pleasure?
A: I love a good period drama and will often re-watch my favourite shows more frequently than the average person.

Q: Favourite Season?
A: I am a big Autumn/Winter gal myself, but I won’t shy away from singing in the rain or an organized beach day!

Q: Favourite Saying?
A: One of my family sayings: ‘One thing at a time’, I live by this!

Q: Biggest Pet Peeve
A: When people do not capitalize nouns…This started back when a friend wouldn’t capitalize the first and last name of their Sims when I was young, and I have not let it go!

Q: Ideal Vacation?
A: Bali, Indonesia (Waterfalls? Temples? Volcanoes? Beaches? I am IN!) However, give me a weekend away with my friends or partner anywhere and I’m happy as could be!

Q: Hobbies?
A: Playing video games, swimming, roller blading, cross-stitching, and who doesn’t love a good nap (that count’s right?).

Q: Big Dreams?
A: Continuing to travel, starting a family (in due time), and I have always wanted to open an animal sanctuary!

My approach

My therapeutic approach is integrative, allowing me to tailor treatment to your unique needs and goals. By assessing your specific situation, we can determine the most effective strategies to address your challenges. Collaboration is key; we will work as a team to tackle obstacles and achieve success in a clear and impactful way. Life can be overwhelming, and It’s okay to seek support. I’m here to listen, advocate for you, celebrate your successes, and offer guidance through difficult times. Together, we’ll create an environment where you can thrive and grow.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. By learning to spot unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, people can make positive changes in their lives, feel better about themselves, and handle challenges more easily. CBT teaches useful skills to manage problems and improve well-being.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy is an approach that empowers individuals to re-author their life stories by exploring and re-evaluating the narratives they have created about themselves. Through this process, people gain insight into their beliefs, values, and experiences, and ultimately develop new perspectives and possibilities for personal growth and transformation. As the expert on your own life, Narrative Therapy helps to externalize the challenges you face without fear of judgment or bias.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapy style that teaches people how to accept their thoughts and feelings and make positive changes in their lives. It helps people learn to be more aware of their present moment experiences, stick to their values, and take action to improve their well-being. ACT encourages people to be flexible in their thinking, which can make them stronger and better able to handle life’s ups and downs.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy puts the individual at the center of their own healing and growth. This approach focuses on building a strong relationship between the therapist and client, where the therapist deeply listens to the client’s experiences and feelings without judgment. Through this supportive environment, clients are empowered to discover their own strengths, find solutions to their problems, and become the best version of themselves.
