Monica Lipka

MACP, RP (Qualifying) Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Hi! I’m Monica! I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and independent contractor here at Rebound Total Health. A couple years ago I was a burnt-out; constantly angry; overly anxious 9-5er who wasn’t happy with her work, leisure, and love life. I knew I wanted to feel love and connected to others, happy in my workplace and motivated to do my hobbies but I felt stuck, and my over-thinking brain would consume me. took it upon myself to learn the tools and skills to live with less anxiety. I am so happy I did because I have now helped myself and hundreds of others communicate authentically with loved ones, courageously express themselves, and pursue a life they love to live.

I'll be your teammate as we work towards becoming the best version of you.

Working with me

Because I have dealt with my own anxiety and burnout for years. I know how important it is to feel appreciated, open, playful, free and loved. Since my goal is to end unnecessary suffering; after our sessions, I aim to have you feeling safe, understood and looking forward to the weekdays.

Worth mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!

I am really good at finding patterns in your thoughts and behaviours. Recognizing those patterns will be a huge benefit in helping to get you unstuck and move towards the relationships and life you desire.

I’ve been told time and time again that because of my warm, down-to-earth, and non-judgmental attitude, it is really easy for people to open up to me. You can feel comfortable knowing you can come to me with anything, and I’ll work with you to learn how to deal with it.

As serious as I am about your results, I am also really serious about you enjoying the therapeutic process. I believe every step, big or small, should be acknowledged and appreciated because it’s one step closer to where you want to be, and one step further from where you were.

What does a session with me look like?

After working for over 10 years in the mental health and physio world, I know the importance of connecting your body, mind and soul. You can expect some mindfulness/breath-work to be utilized, and most importantly, laughter. As well, there is huge power in language, so you’ll definitely have me catching the words and phrases you say that may be impacting the way you live your life. I also believe in taking small, 2mm actions to help shift behaviours that aren’t serving you and having you develop behaviours that empower you to live your best life.

My approach

I like to do therapy with you, not at you. If you’re laughing, I’m laughing. If you’re swearing, I’m swearing. If you’re crying, I’ll be there for you. I ask questions, share stories and provide psychoeducation to help you gain a new perspective and foster healthier coping strategies. I’ll meet you where you’re at and provide an atmosphere that’s warm, shame/guilt free and empathetic.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Dealing with the present and empowering you to explore negative expectations. Creating positive thoughts and beliefs that leave you happier and taking positive steps to changing your life.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Checking in on your thoughts and behaviour and seeing if they are in line with the person you want to be. Looking at what is really driving you and see if it aligns with the sort of father, mother, friend, person or partner you want to be.

Narrative Therapy

Helps you separate yourself from the problem, that way you can explore the meanings that were placed on your past experiences and help speak your truth.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness involves focusing the attention on the here and now with a non-judgemental attitude. It helps you become open and accepting to your present experience in order to develop tolerance for difficult feelings expressed by you or others in your life.

There is always a step small enough from where we are to get us to where we want to be. If we take that small step, there's always another we can take, and eventually a goal thought to be too far to reach becomes achievable. What we have learned to look for in a situation determines mostly what we see.
