MACP Registered Psychotherapist

Hi! I’m Kristen!

I’m so happy you’re here. I’m a Registered Psychotherapist and independent contractor here at Rebound Total Health. I am grateful to be a part of the team, and a part of your journey. My passion for the mental health field and supporting others started at a very young age, which continues to strengthen and grow each day. I, too, have sat in that client chair and recognize the fear and excitement that therapy brings. Let’s tackle those feelings, together.

Is there something in your life you want to change, but can’t figure out what? Are you overwhelmed, tired, or feeling stuck? Maybe you’re living with anxiety, depression, loneliness, stress, or burnout? These powerful thoughts and feelings can be a lot to manage, but you do not have to manage them alone. Maybe you feel like your problems are too big or too small. Maybe you feel like something is just a passing thought and is not worth bringing up. When working with me, nothing is off the table – if it’s important to you, then it is important to me.

Working with me

My goal is to make sessions feel easy and comfortable. I emphasize a safe, non-judgemental space where you can share whatever is on your mind. Nothing is off the table – no concern is too big or small. If you want to talk about it, I want to listen. I want you to leave our sessions feeling heard, understood, and important.

Worth mentioning

As clients decide who they want to work with for counselling, there’s lots to take into consideration! Here are some additional perks you should know of!

I provide a space filled with compassion that allows you to be your authentic self. My non-judgmental, open-minded, and personable approach creates a comfortable space where you can feel relaxed to express whatever’s on your mind. The more trust we develop, the more success we see in therapy.

Therapy is not a one-size fits all approach. Some methods work well, while others may not be what you’re looking for. Therapy is for you; therefore, I use a variety of therapeutic modalities and interventions to support you and create success. Something not working or doesn’t feel right? Let me know! We’ll find what works for you.

I offer morning, daytime, and evening sessions to ensure accessibility for clients with busy schedules. Our easy online bookings service allows clients to pick a time that works for them. Unsure about booking online? No worries, just send me an email or give me a call and we can find something that works best with your schedule.

What does a session with me look like?

Each client is different, and so are their sessions! We will work together to find the best fit for you. We will check-in, go over what’s on your mind, and create a plan for our time together. If you like questions, I’ll ask lots of questions. If you want to vent, I will hold space for you to share. What you can always expect is a safe, relaxed, honest, and real space where I will be your biggest advocate.

My approach

I approach therapy through a client-centered lens. This means that instead of leading you through your journey, I will meet you where you are and will act as a guide and source of support to help you get to where YOU want to be. You are the expert of your life, so, we will work together to create a plan that is unique to you and your lifestyle that will best meet your needs. I will combine knowledge and skills from different therapeutic modalities to best support you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

In order to address certain adverse behaviours or reactions, we must first understand the relationships between our thoughts, feelings, and physical reactions. We will identify, explore, and question the functions of distorted thinking to disrupt unhelpful patterns and develop practical tools and skills to cope in a way that is helpful for you.

Strength Based

Discover and develop your strengths and unique talents. This approach is not problem-focused, but instead involves positivity and empowerment to discover your strengths and apply them to your life.

Solution-Focused

A goal-directed, collaborative approach aimed at addressing your current problems and providing adequate solutions based on your lifestyle. Together, we will develop solutions instead of focusing primarily on problems.

Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

This approach helps you to self-monitor to regulate emotions by practicing non-judgemental acceptance and mindfulness to identify triggers, alter dysfunctional behaviours, and create more balanced thoughts that foster healthier emotions.
